Welcome back to #DUMjamsDebut, DUM DUM Zine’s music feature where we pair a spankin’ new track with an intimate, behind the scenes peek on the song from the artist. You might recognize Trap Girl from our 3 year anniversary poster–they’re headlining the show on October 5th!

We couldn’t be more excited about the latest offering from L.A. punk outfit Trap Girl. Hot off the heels from their summer gigs at Mosswood Meltdown and opening for legendary riot grrrls Bratmobile, the band gives us their latest single. “Death Dress” stands as a defiant statement against injustice, wrapped in Trap Girl’s signature blend of aggression and authenticity.

We asked Drew to tell us more about the song and its meaning:

“I wrote “Death dress” about Leelah Alcorn, her story really affected me and I never forgot it. Although the subject matter is pretty serious, the song itself is a rocker and totally represents Trap Girl.”

Trap Girl’s new album “The Savage Goddess” comes out September 27 on Kill Rock Stars. Pre-order it here, and be sure to catch the band playing our 3 year anniversary party at Non Plus Ultra on Saturday, October 5th in Los Angeles. Get tickets.
