Dearest Dummies,

As you may remember, we launched our Issue 3 Kickstarter campaign in early November and watched anxiously as donations rolled in. We’re thrilled to share that as of December 19th, 2012, we reached our Kickstarter funding goal of $5,000! Of course, we could not have done it without the generous help and donations from friends, followers, and Dummies alike, so once again, THANK YOU!

To encourage and express our gratitude, we hooked up with our friends in local bands, So Many Wizards and LUNA IS HONEY, to reward campaign backers with even more swag. And in the spirit of giving, DUM DUM partnered with the folks at 826LA tutoring center for a charity drive in the final week of our campaign. Matching every $10 donation for 1 hour of time, we committed 44 HOURS of tutoring to the student authors of Los Angeles for 2013!

So what’s next for DUM DUM?

Our fundraising will cover not only the expenses that go into producing issue 3 itself, but also for our release party on February 9th at Echo Country Outpost.  After all the partying and revelry, DUM DUM will regroup in the Spring and organize free literary programming via FreeWriteShop! You can follow FWS here for workshop updates, as well as prompts posted weekly for writing fodder.

In other exciting news, DUM DUM was invited to table at Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair at MOCA, Jan 31-Feb 3. We of course accepted, and thought it would be a perfect place to debut Issue 3! Stay tuned for more details on DUM DUM’s official LA Art Book Fair Opening Night After Party!

We’ll also be exhibiting at the annual L.A. Zine Fest on February 17, which is taking place this year at The Ukranian Cultural Center.  This is always a fantastic event, where our zine community can celebrate each other and revel in our DIY power.

We’d love to see you at any and every one of these events. We’ll post all the bells and whistles soon.

Happy 2013 and THANK YOU for your continued support!

All of our DUM love,
DUM DUM Zine
