DUM DUM has been a roving a lot lately. We took a break from our Free Write Shop “Summer L.A. Tour” and Taleen traveled to the Deep South to discover Write Club Atlanta, a monthly series of writing ninjas battling it out word-style (and apparently, there’s a base in Los Angeles! We couldn’t be more thrilled).
Next, we hit up Chicago for The Printers’ Ball, which, as you may remember, was where DUM DUM gave our Issue No. 1 broadside babies away for last year’s pre-launch. All the while, Editrix Liska Jacobs was getting her training as a certified skipper! Just as soon as her seals come in the mail, we’ll be hopping on a boat and dropping anchor to write for hours.
Stay tuned for skippering details! In the meantime, we’ve decided to post writing prompts on the website as a way to kick each others’ ass into gear and get writing. We’ll be posting one every month or so, and keeping the comments field open in case you want to use the space to write.
Prompt #1: Write a train story
Like a travel story…but on a train! Here’s some juice from our past workshop to get you started.
You can also email responses to dumdumzine [at] gmail [dot] com. Responses will be posted here as well as on our Free Write Shop Tumblr, so get ready to smear your writing all over the place!
