We stopped by The Pop-Hop a few weekends ago for the final celebration of our 3rd issue, PUNKS & Scholars.

The very place our DUM box was screen printed, it was only appropriate to cycle back to the Highland Park bookstore and print studio to bid the issue farewell with all of our pals. Thank you so much to our creative family who was present in person, in voice, material, and spirit. Angie Bloom of our resident band TÜLIPS kicked off the evening with some acoustic rarities, followed by your favorite Dummies–Rose Quezada (for Jessica Garrison), David Chun, Liska Jacobs, and Taleen Kalenderian–reading their pieces from Issue No. 3.

Crazy tiara-and-basketball-jersey-sporting, experimental-percussion-multitasking, surrealist-automatism-embracing art band Bloody Death Skull was there to musically improvise and interpret the work from the issue written by readers who couldn’t make it that evening. Here’s a video of Daiana and Andres interpreting “Elvis is Dead” by Michael Stock. Tiaras and punk forever.

We also opened up a box of Issue 3 for trade with the audience. Each piece in the box was given away for free, and in exchange we asked for anything in your pockets: lint, condoms, presents, anything!

As you can see, the box was gutted. But we got so many amazing things in exchange: a zine by our friend Scott, Coachella brochure, CD, biz card, mini turkey made of felt, some yarn, gold flecks, a pin, and a Bloody Death Skull plush toy. WIN.

What better way to say goodbye to Issue 3 than with a plush toy skeleton? Seeya on the flipside and stay tuned, Dummies…some big announcements coming soon…
